In the Service of People
DSG stands out among research and consulting firms, because we’re not just studying problems and preparing reports to sit on a shelf and collect dust. We help clients achieve their goals every step of the way, applying objectivity, rigorous analysis, and the best of science in keeping with our mission of Science in the Service of People.
We deliver tailored telephone, Web-based, and onsite technical assistance to meet our clients’ needs and budgets. Our staff conduct curriculum development initiatives, training and education programs, distance learning, Web-based training, and technology transfer.
Under the direction of Marcia I. Cohen, vice president, the Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Division, DSG staff, and expert consultants provide TTA in support of federal agencies, states, cities, federal program grantees, and community-based organizations in various areas. We have delivered more than 250 original training conferences, presentations, and workshops. DSG trainings have covered numerous topics, including delinquency prevention, violence prevention, child welfare, substance abuse, strategic planning, foster care, respite care, information technology, youth gangs, balanced and restorative justice, youth and drug courts, and cultural competency. We have also developed regional training programs, Web-based trainings, Webinars, and videos for distance learning. Many conferences offer continuing education units.
Our staff conduct curriculum development initiatives (including production of training designs, agendas, manuals, and other training support products), training and education programs, distance learning, Web-based training, and technology transfer. DSG’s services include the design of customized TTA programs and delivery systems, as well as conceptualization and development of training materials. Support products for conferences, meetings, and related events include promotional and registration materials, programs, speeches, policy papers, handouts, session summaries, and meeting proceedings.
Our TTA Approach
DSG does not deliver “canned” training and technical assistance but instead customizes all aspects of TTA to meet the needs of our clients. We provide tailored telephone, Web-based, and onsite TA to meet our clients’ needs and budgets. Our protocols for development and delivery ensure that we identify precisely the needs to be addressed and develop materials accordingly. Our expert staff work to the highest of expectations and standards, resulting in a history of satisfied customers.
DSG plans and produces trade shows, exhibits, conferences, and other events for groups large and small. Through several major federal contracts, we put on hundreds of such events a year ranging from 25 to 500 participants. We always provide:
- Logistics, A to Z—from online registration to thank you letters for speakers
- All pre-meeting, meeting, and post-meeting support activities
- Events planning, including topic identification, speaker invitation, and program development
- Conceptualization, editing, and preparation of promotional and meeting materials, including programs
- Educational and training materials designed for website dissemination
